What is STEM Education?

What is STEM Education?

By Milton Bertrand

As many of you know that STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education. The aim of focusing on these disciplines together is that the skills and knowledge in each discipline are essentials for great innovations. These fields are deeply intertwined in the real world applications. STEM is an interdisciplinary and applied approach that is important to any given society.

For decades, innovators and entrepreneurs around the world bring dynamic innovations. To maintain these innovations, drive the economy into the 21st century, we have an obligation to equip the future generation with the skills and experiences that will prepare them to be leaders. For any given nation to have a robust economy in a complex world, the ability to harness science, technology, engineering, and mathematics is imperative.

A STEM-educated individual is more than an innovator and critical thinker; s/he is able to make meaningful contributions to society, connections between local school, community, work and global issues.  STEM skills are increasingly important to engage in a knowledge-based economy. There is strong evidence to suggest that the fastest-growing and highest-wage jobs in future years will be in STEM related fields. Employees will have no choice but to use STEM skills for problem solving in a wide range of industries.

To disseminate best practices in STEM a web-based network Geazle.com (Geazle) is created for knowledge sharing, professional networking, collect, and share new ideas that matter to society, develop, and promote resources and tools. An essential part of Geazle is proven best practices that inform all interested in improving STEM education and careers.

Geazle’s mission is to be a voice for STEM, to facilitate, stimulate the promotion of new discoveries, and innovation in STEM for national and global benefit, to involve and engage the general public.
